AGAIN!?!?!

I thought after last year ended, I was done with all my medical problems but I guess I thought wrong!

Memorial Day weekend, I fell while I was down at my parents. We were up enjoying dinner at my cousin Scott's restaurant that he just opened at Joe's Valley Marina and Koy was running away from us so I ran after him and I fell right on my left knee. I really bruised up my knee and it happened to be the knee that I had surgery on last August so I got really worried about it. I got back to my parents and iced it and really babied it the rest of the weekend. I went to Dr Hansen (my orthopaedic surgeon) and he looked at it, and thought I just bruised it down to the bone and said to come back if it continues to hurt. Not a big deal! Well, few days later Barrett came down with my couch since he was moving. I was trying to help him move the couch in. I didn't realize my leg was not as strong as I thought and I fell with the hide-a-bed couch and it fell right on my LEFT knee! Barrett asked if I was ok, I got up and Barrett was FABULOUS and got the couch in my house! The pain didn't go away but the bruising did. I just let the knee pain slide by and kept thinking it would go away.

Finally last week, I couldn't handle it anymore! Behind my knee was getting so swollen and it was honestly hurting so bad to walk! I broke down and called Dr Hansen again. They got me in last Thursday. He gave me a cortisone shot and said to let him know if it doesn't work and all the goods... That brings me to now... I can hardly put any pressure on my leg. My leg is so swollen. It hurts so bad behind my knee, the inside of my knee, below my knee.. I called Dr Hansen yesterday and they were able to get me in today. I went and saw him today and when he walked in the room and saw my leg, his reaction said it all! So I am scheduled to get an MRI tomorrow morning at 6:20 am (yes, in the morning!). Good thing the MRI place is just down the road and my leg is so swollen I can't wear levi's to work! :) Dr Hansen told me to pull out my crutches and try not to put weight on my leg. I have been icing it and keeping it elevated and having it wrapped up in an ace bandage. It hurts SO BAD!! It has started to have shooting pain down the front of my leg all the way to the ankle (so Dr Barrett, any ideas what it could be) I go back for the follow-up Monday, so I guess we will go from there.

That has been my excitement! :) I know it sounds so much fun, so much it makes you want to jump up and down! :) HA HA! If you are jumping, please jump for me.. since I can't!

Well, it is 8:00. I need to go shower so I can hit the sack. 6:00 comes WAY too early for me! :)

GOODNIGHT! :)

Holiday Weekend

I had a great holiday weekend! It started out Wednesday after work! Lexi stayed the night at my house because she had to be at BYU Lavell Edwards Stadium at 8:45 to start practicing for Stadium of Fire. She got to my house pretty late, so we went right to bed. I froze TONS of bottled water that night so we had lots of water while we were out in the sun. Thursday morning we drove down to Provo. We met Jaley and the dance group outside the gates and the little girls went in and started dancing. They had such a long practice and they did so good! It was such a hot day! I made sure Lexi drank TONS of water because I did not want her to get dehyrated. At 11:30 or so we had lunch break and we came up to my work to get my paycheck and to get out of the sun. Everyone at Myriad LOVED Lexi! Lexi loved to tell everyone that she gets to dance at Stadium of Fire. She said that everyone at Aunt Nicky's work is so nice! :) At 3:15 we were back at the Stadium... I felt so bad... There were 1300 girls and they were dancing in the hot sun! But they had people spraying they down with water and once again, I made sure Lexi kept her water close by. Jaley and Jasha were good about having grapes down there to pop in the girls mouths whenever they had a quick break. At 6, we went on our dinner break. Me and Lex ran down to the Provo Towne Centre Mall and ate at Subway. I had to get her into her costume and get back to the stadium by 7:45. Then we did a run-through of the whole program. I am go glad that Tammy and Josh let me be part of it. I am so proud of Lexi! She did so good! She made sure to tell me everytime she saw me "Nicky, I am drinking LOTS of water!!!" because she knew I was going to ask! :) We got to see the Blue Man Group practice (but Thursday night, they weren't Blue!) Practice that night ran long and we didn't get back to my house until 11:30. Josh was already there to pick Lexi up.

Friday, Kayden stayed with me. He is so funny! I took him to Wal-mart so I could grab some much needed stuff (soap and bread). I thought I would pick up some little fireworks and do those that night. I knew he didn't like the big fireworks but I thought the little ones he might be ok with. That night, we went over to my friend Aimee's (EC connection) and did fireworks at her house. Her dad set off a smoke bomb/grenade, that didn't go too well with Kayden. So the rest of the time, he was in the house watching Transformers and he was perfectly fine seeing the fireworks out the window. But Kayden LOVED the little pop things that you throw on the ground, I actually had to tell him to stop throwing them at peoples feet! :) He did SOO good Friday night! I got him his meds and did the pump all by myself, I was pretty impressed! :)

Tammy came and picked him up Saturday morning and I was child-free! I loved having them here, but I am not used to being a mother! :) When Tammy was getting Kayden in the car, Kayden asked Tammy "Mom, do you have a smoke?" Tammy looked at me and I told her "I don't know what he's talkin about! I don't smoke!" But we soon realized he meant a SMOKE BOMB!! A funny thing Lexi said was we were driving to BYU and they had blocked roads off to get to the parking lot and we had to detour and I FINALLY found my way and I said "Lexi, see, who needs a man!" and she looks at me and said "YOU!!" I was in shock that this little girl said that! I said "what do you mean!" she said "I want a new uncle!" I just love my nieces and nephews so much!

I hope everyone had a safe 4th of July! My weekend was busy with the kids, but if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have done anything! Thanks again Lexi for letting me be part of your show with you on Thursday, it really meant a lot!

Who's having a birthday?!?!

DA DA DA.... BARRETT!!!!

Doesn't he just look FABULOUS!!! :)

Happy Birthday Barrett! This is the only picture I have of you (wonderful picture, I know) and I still had to crop it. You better take advantage of this birthday, because come next year I am going to give you a hard time. I gave Tammy a hard time for turning old this year.. Next year it's your turn... MUHAHAHA! :) And remember, no matter how old you are, I will ALWAYS be your little sister! :)

You are such a great example to me. You are a great father, brother, husband, son, friend.. and not sure about dr.. You have a wonderful family. I miss you guys so much! I hope they spoil you on your birthday, you deserve it. I have a lot of fun memories with you and I am so glad that you are my brother! I couldn't ask for a better brother. (Even though you did eat my chapstick and my barbies, LOL)

Happy Birthday Barrett and Aunt LuAnn (can't forget Aunt LuAnn) I love you Barrett!

What a week!!!

The past week has been a roller coaster!

I started getting a cold the weekend of OV days. Not sure if it was because of the cold weather, but it started out with a massive migraine! I thought it was just a headache. Then the next day I started getting really congested and then it just spiraled downhill from that. I got the yucky sore throat and nasty conjestion. I went to the Dr (Carol Cheney, she is a Nurse Practitioner) that I go to up here in Salt Lake at the Holladay Family Practice, she is the only I trust at that place!! She was sure I was getting something in my throat because it was BRIGHT red, but of course, NOTHING! I have gone through 6 boxes of tissues and my nose hurts so bad! 3 boxes are the rough tissues from work that feel like sandpaper. I started feeling better, then it started up again.. People at Myriad kept asking me why I went into work yesterday, as soon as 3:30 came, I was out the door! I slept as soon as I got home. I worked 4 hours today because I just feel so awful! I hope this cold goes away soon! I can't handle it anymore! I just cough all the time. I am at least not conjested, it is a runny nose now and I am coughing. So at least it is loose. But the coughing just hurts so bad. It makes me get a really bad headache and it hurts my chest. But I know that I am on the mend of it... so hopefully soon... :)

Friday a co-worker passed away unexpected. That has been so hard on me! She was at work and did her full 8 hours of work on Thursday. I am still in the shock stage. Kitty was such a great friend. Just shocking and really hard to grasp. Her viewing was Tuesday and it was so hard to go to but it wasn't her. That is really hard for me to go to see the body and the body looks NOTHING like them. Lately the grieving is starting to set in with me. I met with my therapist today about it and it was really good meeting. He is FABULOUS!

Monday, I had to buy a new tire. Of course, I had a flat tire! I am KNOWN for getting flats! Well, I had to buy a new one! What a great way to start the week out!

Yesterday, Dad had his knee replaced. I heard the nurses didn't take good care of him at Castleview Hospital and that really makes me mad! He got sick and he didn't even have a pink tub to throw up in. So thank goodness we had our dear Tiffany (Tyler Jeff's wife) to get things going. My mom said that dad was just miserable. And of course, they ended up having the same nurses TONIGHT! I wish I was there to take care of my dad.

I can't wait to get Tammy and Josh to move up here! They will just be around the corner from me! AND, next week, me and Tammy are going to the Tim McGraw concert. So maybe that will help me relieve stress. My Therapist says that I do suffer from anxiety and a lot of things have made me stressed out lately.. So having family around will help that I think.

I am really looking forward to this weekend where I can just relax. Last weekend I had to work on Saturday. I am going to help out the Friday late shift, but Saturday, I am going to do nothing but relax!

Other then that... I hope the rollercoaster is over the loop-de-loops and is starting to come to the straight path to slow down! :) I am tired of the big roller coasters. I'm ready for the little fun rides, like bumper cars or the carousel.. Where it is steady at one pace and actually kinda boring. :)

I'll be better at writing I promise. THis past week has really got to me with emotions. It has also really got me thinking a lot about death. You never know when it is your time. Kitty's family is going through much. I don't know what I would do if that happened to someone in my family. Kitty was younger then my parents. That is where it is so hard on me. I don't know what I would do if I lost a parent like that. Just one day they went to bed and didn't wake up. I love my family so much! I hope everyone in my family knows that I do love them. I want my nieces and nephews to know that Aunt Nicky loves them. With everything I have had to go through the past week, I want to make sure that they know EVERYDAY that I love them. I want my own sisters and brothers to know, not only my blood family but my brother in laws and my sister in law, I want you all to know that I love you. I love you guys all so much. With things that I have seen on the news and seen just here in my life... Things change SOO fast. I look up to you guys so much! You are my family, you are my heros. You have done so many things that I could never do. You are wonderful..
Mom and dad.. Please take care of yourself! I don't want to lose my parents at such an early age! Yes, you are young! :) you can frame that, I said you were young!! :) I love my family so much! I want everyone to know that! I want to yell it on the mountaintops so EVERYONE can hear. I am proud of my family and proud of the family I come from! :)

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to the many Fathers out there. There are many Fathers out there in my life.

My own father! I love you so much! You have taught me so much! I want to marry man just like you. You honor mom and help her out so much. You taught me the meaning of work. You and mom did everything you could to give us what we needed growing up, that meaning having extra jobs. I can't put into words what you mean to me and how much I love you. You have helped me out so many times, I am proud to say that I am spoiled brat and I am a daddy's girl! :)

My brother Barrett: You are such a great example in more ways then 1. You made a goal when you were younger that you wanted to be a doctor and you stuck to it and look at where you are. You are an amazing person. You have a cute family and those kids really look up to their dad. I look at what kind of husband you are, and you remind me so much of dad. Chantel is one lucky girl! :) I love you Barrett!

My brother in law Josh: You are a good example to me to keep working and you can do it! I hope you guys move up here fast! :) I know Tammy is happy that you are home and those kids really do adore you. You are the father of 3 adorable kids. Don't ever forget that!

My brother in law Dallas: You and Nancy have gone through SOO much, I dont know how you do it. It was good to see you a few weeks ago. You make Nancy so happy and I am so happy to see that. You stayed by Nancy's side through everything with Ty and you were so strong (I know that you HATE hospitals). I know Ty loves you so much. You are a lucky man to be brought that special bundle to you and Nancy!

My grandfathers are strong men. I just have very few memories of my grandpa Labrum, but the memories I do have he was such a good example. He raised my father to be the man that he is today. The men on the Labrum side are all spiritually strong and I know they got that from Grandpa Labrum. I am proud to say that I am a decent of Ivan Boyce Labrum. He is such a great man!

Grandpa Rue has always been in my life. He is the grandpa that has just been down the road. I hope you get feeling better Grandpa! I love you!

All my uncles and cousins that I have.... You are all great! You are good examples to me and I cannot tell you enough how glad I am that I have you in my life.

Any other men that read this, I hope you have a good fathers day!
