Changes

All I can say is I love my new job!!! It is different, but it is a good different. It has been a big change to actually get my full 40 hours in a week. I am so glad that this opportunity was given to me, I don't think I would have ever done it if it wasn't presented to me.

I found this quote and I wanted to share it..

Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there.
-- Amy Li

I know the past few weeks has been hard for the family and I hope that my sister knows that I will always be there for her. I know I have probably said some things that has got her upset at me and I am sorry about that. I know you are making the choices that are going to be best for you. I don't know everything that is going on (I actually don't know much at all) and you know, I am ok with that. I just hope that you know that I will be here for you whenever you need me. I am just a phone call away and I don't care if it's 1 am or 6 pm. I will always be there for you. That's why we're family :)

Other then the changes at work, that's been the most changes for me. It's nice having a new perspective of things at my work. I just love working for Myriad though. It is such a good company to work for (even if they do have us do mandatory overtime lol). Overall, you know you are doing a good deed! :) Now that I'm out of training, it's REALLY nice not to have to be at work at 7:30 in the morning and I'm back to my "normal" shift.

Week in Review

This past week has been really hectic for me.. I have not had a computer at my house so I have felt really lonely. Isn't it funny how technology pretty much runs our lives now?

I have had really bad insomnia lately so I have been taking advantage of every bit of sleep time I can get. I talked to my dr on Thursday and she gave me free 7 day trial for Ambien CR to see if that helps. I had to have a prescription from her to say to give it to me. So I went to Walmart to get it filled and the stupid people there took over an hour to give me a free trial. But I guess there were other people there that were quoted 30 minutes for their prescription and they still hadn't got it in 2 hours. So the managers were called and even then the pharmacist was really rude to us about it. I was ready to tell the pharmacist that I am going on about 5 days of no sleep, you do NOT wanna mess with me! But I just "peacefully" gave the managers my information and once I got my prescription went home and enjoyed my undisturbed night! :) I just didn't understand why it took that long to give me a free trial!!

I came down to Orangeville today. I really needed to get away from SLC! I bought new tires for my car (after having the car for 2 years I deseperately needed them). I dropped the car off at Castle Service in Huntington because my dad was working there today and I drove the truck home. When I got home, my mom was just starting to make the family recipe of chili sauce! We make this every year! This year was just different though, there wasn't a BYU game on to listen to. The first year in MANY years that I don't remember having a game on. It was really quiet! So me and my mom sat there stirring the chili sauce everytime we walked past the kitchen all day. It literally takes all day to make it and we only got 11 1/2 jars out of it! But it is WELL worth it! (and don't worry, I made sure every ingredient was put in this year)

Work has just been really busy! We are getting soo many people wanting testing done we can't keep up with samples anymore. It is getting close to the end of the year so deductibles are met. It always gets really busy closer to the end of the year, but this year samples are REALLY coming in. I think that the tests are really being known to patients and doctors are really encouraging people to get testing done.

Fall is officially here! I love this time of year. It is football season and it is time for my birthday! I can't believe that September is almost over! October is a busy month for our family, we have 3 family birthdays (mine, Kayden and Koy) and then not to mention my own cousins and my own Aunt Linda!

There is my week in review.. I will also be posting from Tammy's journaling topics that she has started.. I will be doing these more frequent (like when she posts them) when my computer gets revived.

Back to work

I am back to work! Monday was a long day. I overslept so that made it hectic in the morning. I rushed to work, thank goodness I have good supervisors who understand, and for some reason about half our team was late that day. Come the end of the day, I had a hard time staying awake! I was exhausted by the time I got home! But I am glad to be back and glad to be able to do my job and not be in pain!! YAY!!!

Idiot! (as Napoleon would say)

I don't know why, but changing my blog just took me like 2 hours and it had step by step and I STILL couldn't follow what it said/meant. I even tried calling my mom and my sister to walk me through it, thank goodness they weren't home because I would never hear the end of it.

I was able to rent out the other 2 rooms in the duplex today. It went a lot better this time then it has in the past. I posted the ad online on Thursday and people started contacting me right away. It really helped that it was so close to school starting and having empty rooms. PLUS, the house in a really convenient location.

Myriad Data Entry has changed our schedules once again! But this time, I think it might be ok! Everyone is on the same schedule and no more late Fridays or working weekends!! YAY!! So, my new schedule is 9:15 to 6 Monday-Friday. We have to follow that Fed-Ex truck, so I can't say I have all holidays off because Fed-Ex comes on some holidays. But it isn't bad now that Tammy and Josh are up here because that means I have family up here! :)

I babysat Kayden and Koy this morning for Tammy while she went on her interview. You can read about it here. I am so glad to have them close. Koy had climbed into his chair at the table, so when I walked into the house he was ready for me to get him out. Hearing him say my name and get all excited to see me just makes my day! He can't say my name right so it is even better hearing it "KICKY!" That kid never stops running. I had to have him sit on my lap because he was hitting the dog and I had his blanket and that made him fall asleep. I'm just so glad they are here!

I will let you guys know after my consult on Monday what is going on!

Now you're in the know! :)

I know it's been a while since I have posted! I have been so busy with work...

I had such a good Easter! I was able to go down to EC and spend time with the family. Barrett and Chantel were so nice and picked me up on their way through and let me ride down with them. I worked that day (Good Friday) so I was SOO tired and I was so glad that I didn't have to drive down so I thought I would be able to sleep all the way down but Morgan let me know that was NOT going to happen! I fell asleep not long after we were on the road and I started waking up and she said "Nicky, you can't sleep on the ride down!" But I was able to sneak a nap in here and there. But I sure did get Max and Morgan laughing so hard when I started stealing their blankies. Being the coolest Aunt Nicky around, I colored Easter eggs with the kids (I tried to keep Koy from drinking the dye). We had some pretty colorful eggs (we had pink, purple, green, green, green and anything Max could reach). Saturday was our annual desert day! :) If you are from EC, you know all about being on the desert the Saturday before Easter. We rolled our easter eggs and played in the dirt. It was a lot of fun! I got a REALLY good microdermabrasion clean when I got home :) little sand covering my face and a good shower... Cheapest facial I'll ever have!

My parents bought the grandkids kites. We went down to the school to fly them after the desert and the kids loved them! Even though they were the cheap kites and 2 of them broke, it was really fun to watch the kids fly the kites (even though the "big kids" enjoyed them too).

At work, I have been given the opportunity (if that is what you want to call it) to have more responsibility. I can now help resolve the superviser questions (discrepancies in our queue) and I have been asked to do some training. AND, I got a big cubicle! Ok, I actually GOT a cubicle! :) WITH WALLS!!!! So I have pics of all the nieces and nephews in the cubicle now.. I also was asked to do a project for our SOP (our "bible" as we refer to it) on the cancers that we refer to frequently. These responsibilities really have been an eye opening to me and have really given me a lot to look at with my job. I LOVE MY JOB! I love the whole concept of my job. If you don't know about my job, PLEASE look at the website.. http://www.myriad.com/ My job keeps me busy, but I just love it! Yes I have my complaints, but I just love my job!

I have still been getting my earaches in that right ear. I went to the dr yesterday and they can't find anything wrong. So they are sending me to an ENT. Since I have had this pain since January and I have been on and off antibiotics, the antibiotics have been causing a lot of stress on my body. I have had to go to a GI dr. On Tuesday, I have to go in and have a procedure done to try and get answers (if you know what I mean). So when I went into the dr yesterday, I told them NO ANTIBIOTICS!!! So I go to an ENT on the 21st of this month.. I just want answers!!! :)

I thought growing up was something that happened automatically as you got older. But it turns out it's something you have to choose to do. ~From the television show Scrubs

I thought that quote went really good with this picture. Here is Barrett out on the desert at easter. He put on the kid helmet because Morgan brought it to him. I looked over at him and his face was all squooshed. And when he took it off, he said he couldn't hear much! And this guy is supposed to be a dr and you want me to trust him? LOL... LOVE YA BARRETT!!!!

Now you are in the know with what I have been up to! :)

Quick Update

Just a quick update before I head off to bed...

I am feeling SOO much better. That penicillin must have been what my body needed to get that infection out, because a few days after I started taking it I felt so much better. I still had the ear pain so I went back to the dr (what do dr's know anyway :) ) and he said that because I have been congested for so long, he thinks that it has backed up from my sinuses and went into my eustachian tube and that is why my ears have been in so much pain.. So once again, had me pick up Mucinex. So, I have been on MucinexD for almost 2 months (I don't know if that is healthy for you!). BUT, I have been feeling TONS better. He said if that doesn't clear it up, I may need to go to an ENT to get it checked out because that is something that a family dr can not see. Also, since I have been on antibiotics on and off for 2 months, it has caused a lot of wear and tear on my body. So I will be going to a gastroenterologist this Monday, March 10. I will spare the details on here! :) If you wanna know what is going on, ask me personally! But it has been enough to scare me enough to WANT to go to a specialist.

I applied for 1 of the 2 Data Entry Superviser positions at my work at Myriad. Unfortunately, I did not get the position. That has been really hard for me. Things came round about the wrong way and I was not even considered for the job. So that made it even harder. So I will just work harder so I get a good raise and raise time (July). I am also starting to look for a part time job to occupy my afternoon time. Since I did not get that position, I have been really depressed. In the Myriad HR policy handbook it says that to be offered a promotion, you have to be at Myriad for at least 12 months and they gave 1 of the positions to a person who has been there only for 4 months. So I am trying my hardest to keep an upbeat spirit about it, but it is hard. I am not holding any hard feelings toward this person at all, just the whole situation is hard for me to handle.

Other then that, everything is going fine. It is nice not to be so sick! I was starting to forget what it was like to not have ear or throat pain! I will try to be better at keeping up with this.

Well, I better head off to bed.. I can feel my medicine is kicking in so if none of this makes sense, lol, blame it on that! :)

Good night! Love you guys!!
Love,
Aunt Nicky
