I have never really looked forward to conference. When I was in primary, they would always give us the conference BINGO and we had M&M's and I would enjoy the M&M's more then playing the game. I never understood conference.
After so much has gone in my life over the past month, I was really looking forward toconference. So much that I got up right before conference and I took my blanket downstairs and had my notebook and pen with me so I could take notes. I really wanted to get as much as out on conference as I could. There were so many talks that I really needed to hear and I knew that the Lord was speaking to me.
One talk I really enjoyed was Bro Packer. Some things I got out of his talk are:
*Gospel plan is the center of the family
*All physical bodies have power over the temptation
*Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost
*Words of Christ come as a feeling not as a voice
*With repentence, the Lord says "I the Lord remember them no more"
Keys from Pres. Uchdorf's talk
*The prisoner holds the key and it needs to be unlocked from the inside.
*Only repentance can heal what hurts no matter what it is
*You will be sealed and protected by the advesary IF you will head the prompting that come from the holy ghost.
*Dress modestly
*Talk reverently
*Listen to uplifting music
*Avoid all immorality and degrading practice
*Take hold of your life, we depend so much on you,you will be remarkable blessed. You're never far from the side of your heavenly father
*Lucifer will lose the battle.
Me and Nancy went to her friends baby's birthday so we missed the Saturday afternoon session. I got home and didn't feel well so I took a nap.
Sunday, I listened to both sessions and I REALLY enjoyed every talk.
I really enjoyed Bro Robert D Hales
*We have trials to help us grow and to strengthen us. We wait upon the Lord to test.
*They are all for our experience and for our own good.
*"THY WILL BE DONE"
*Wait on the Lord is like planting a seed--Plant a seed on the Lord and nourish it, ponder it, stand fast.
*Line upon line, precept upon precept
*Answers will come. He knows our sacrifices and sorrows
*Blessings are eternal not temporary
Bro Tad Callister
He did a good job about explaining how different religions can have different interpretations of the bible and he likened it to a circle. How many lines can go thru a circle, INFINITE. Then he put another circle out to the side. How many lines can go to one circle to another, only one. One circle was the bible and the other the Book of Mormon.
*God is the same yesterday, today and forever. If you believe in Christ you will believe in these words
One of my favorite quotes of ALL of conference, came from Sister Elaine S Dalton, General Young Women President
*Value Womanhood
*Satan is clever, he does not need to break down the door
*Fathers are showing what true love is
*Priesthood is connected to heaven
*If she is late coming home from a date, GO GET HER!
My favorite...
**BE LOYAL TO THE ROYAL**
Brother Ballard told us
*We took name on us in baptism
*Savior is only name under heaven which man may be saved
*The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Jesus Christ's church and we are the Latter-day followers
*Jssus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer
*Stand as a witness at all times and in all places and in places
*In old times we were called Christians, now we are called Mormons. Please refrain from "Mormon" use the full name of the church
Bro. Dallin H Oaks
*When you consider all the things the Lord has done for you, why not go to church?
*Whatever shall be bound on earth shall be bound in heaven.
*Comforter will teach you all things, guides you all things
*Focus on HIM, not on the things of the world
*The Lord is the Bread of life.
*He is LIVING bread
*Blood shed for the many for the remission of sin
*He will judge according to their works
*The Atonement gives a chance to overcome spiritual death
Bro Randall Bennett
*Choose eternal Life
*When you make a choice, you are choosing the consequence.
*We have 2 choices: Follow the Lord, Follow the World
*We all have made choices and made errors---repent
*Savior will remember sins no more
*Never too late to choose eternal life

YAY for MOM!
I am so proud of my mom! She is so good at her handwork. She is ALWAYS doing crocheting. I remember growing up and always helping roll the yarn into balls for her. Traveling, she takes her crocheting with her just to keep her hands busy. She does an AMAZING job at it. She makes afghans and more afghans :) Everyone in the family who has been married (all the cousins) knows that their wedding gift from Aunt Lori and Uncle Garth is an afghan that Aunt Lori crochets for them. So if you want your afghan, you need to personally call Aunt Lori and tell her you are getting married as soon as you get engaged so she has enough time to prepare to make it. With her own kids... She made White blankets for them to be taken to church in when they got blessed. With Morgan and Lexi, their blessing dress was made for them by my mom. She works so hard to make them. She actually entered Morgans in the Emery County Fair and got a BLUE RIBBON for it! Max actually got to wear the booties and hat that Grandma Nell made (MY grandma) for her first boy which happened to be Barrett because Grandma Nell had all girls. Barrett was the first boy in the family. So Barrett got to keep them. THEN, When Max came along, Max wore them for his blessing. On his blessing day, we all just cried when my mom put them on her grandson knowing that they were once put on Barrett by his grandma. The hat was kinda tight because Max's head was big! :) Now Chantel and Barrett have made a little box that the hat and booties are in. They have been saved for over 50 years.
Well, The reason I post this is because my mom is accoomplishing some of her lifelong dreams. Growing up, I remember her saying over and over how she would really LOVE to just sit and play the organ at the temple. One time she went over for a session and they needed an organist. She got to play the organ. Another thing I remember her saying over and over growing up she is getting that dream to come true now. You can read about it on her blog HERE. Please check it out! I am SOO proud of my mom. She has a talent that others don't have. And to get this honor to do this is just amazing!!
Mom, I am so proud of you!! Grandma Nell is looking down on you and I know she is so proud of you. You kept that gift of your handcraft. You have passed that on to Tammy. I am just at awe of you guys. I couldn't pick it up, I am so proud of you. Just thinking about it makes me cry. Your gift of needlework will be able to be seen by so many people now and it is really touching! I know this is something you have always wanted is for your needlework to be in the temple and now it is going to have that chance. Mom, Grandma Nell is so proud of you. This is why people always come to you asking for your help, you are really good at it. I am so honored to be your daughter and I love you so much! Sorry I never did pick up on the needlework.. :) I tried, but I can't do much after doing a chain :) Just know that you have a special gift. And your gift is going to be seen by others now. BUT, don't forget, you have 1 daugher who's not married.. I still need blankets when I get married :)
I love you mom.. I am so proud of you! Just know that grandma is proud. Grandma and Grandpa Labrum are proud too. Your family, we all love you and support you. If I was there with you, I would give you a big hug and I KNOW we would start crying (we will blame it on the Ware side) but that's what families are for.. I love you so much!

We are in HIS hands
Today I got the opportunity to go to Pres. Hinckley's viewing. IT WAS AMAZING! Me and my roommate fought the snow and got on the PACKED trax and got the the LDS Conference Center at about 9:30. It was amazing to be that close to the prophet and to see how many people came to respect him and to see him. The spirit in the Conference Center was amazing. When you got the doors, you could just feel the spirit overwhelm you. The closer you got, the stronger the spirit got. Pres Hinckley looked so peaceful! The flower arrangements were so gorgeous! I loved the flower arrangement from his great-grandchildren that said "grandpa, we will always.. BE" then it mentioned the "BE's attitudes" that Pres Hinckley is famous for and then it had listed all of his great-children. Another flower arrangement that really pretty was one from his grandchildren. Every family was in a different color of rose. The Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii had this GORGEOUS laie that was out for display. It was just amazing! I am so grateful I got the opportunity to go!
I am now browsing through talks that Pres Hinckley has made over the years, and I will just post some things that stuck out:
"I wish today to speak of forgiveness. I think it may be the greatest virtue on earth, and certainly the most needed. There is so much of meanness and abuse, of intolerance and hatred. There is so great a need for repentance and forgiveness. It is the great principle emphasized in all of scripture, both ancient and modern."- Oct Conference 2005
"We’ve walked together side by side through all of these years, coequals and companions through storm and sunshine" Talking about Sister Hinckley right before she passed away in the April Conference 2004
"May we go forward with determination to try a little harder to be a little better." April Conference 1995
He was such a great man!

We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet!

Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley
June 23 1910- January 27 2008
Pres. Hinckley passed away yesterday at about 7 pm due to age. He was the 15th President of the LDS church. He became the prophet, seer and revelator on March 12, 1995 after Pres. Howard W. Hunter passed away. Pres. Hinckley will always be known as the People's prophet. He did so much to connect with the people in this day in age. He has counseled church members to fellowship new convers, befriend members of other faiths, live exemplary lives and avoid the evils of the world.
People from all over the world have got to know Pres. Hinckley. He has been in the news media and the spotlight for various reasons. He had interviews with Larry King and Mike Wallace and many other worldwide reporters. Many people were interested in the LDS faith when the 2002 olympics were held here in SLC and people wanted to know and talk to Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley the "mormon". On June 23, 2004, Pres. Bush gave his the Presidential Medal of Freedom at the White House. This award is the nation's highest civilian award, recognizes exceptional meritorious service.
At the time he became prophet, there was only 47 temples, now there are 124. He is an AMAZING man! Will be missed by many! His goal was to have 100 operating or temples under construction and that goal was accomplished with the dedication of the Boston temple on Oct. 1, 2000. He made is possible to have 3 temples made in the 3 cities that are infamous in the LDS church history; Nauvoo, IL; Palmyra, NY; and Winter Quarters, NE.
Pres. Hinckley's last public appearance was Jan.4, 2008 at the rededication of the Utah State Capital Building where he gave the dedicatory prayer. He is now reunited with his wife of almost 71 years. Marjorie Pay Hinckley passed away April 6, 2004.
People came to Temple Square last night to sing church hymns and the US flag is at half staff in memory in Pres. Hinckley. WHAT GREATER HERO!
