Happy Birthday, Kayden

Happy Birthday Buddy! I remember the day you were born, your mom didn't even realize she was going to have you. You have been the first miracle in our family. The past year, I have been so amazed at so much you have become independent. You have started to take your medicine by yourself and now you are going to school. Hearing you talk about school just makes me so happy. I love you so much Bud! I am so glad that you live close and we can have our time together. You make me laugh with the little things you say and do. You are such a good big brother to Koy, and you love Lexi so much! I hope you had a good birthday! So now I will just say bye and let you go play!

Make a Wish

Kayden was born with Hypoplastic Kidney Disease. His kidneys stopped growing in utero. Right after he turned 2, he was given the best gift someone could ever give him. A second chance of life! A family who had just lost their loved one decided to donate the organs. Kayden was able to receive one of those organs and it was the kidney. On Nov.14 2006 he underwent a kidney transplant.

This past December, Tammy was able to contact the Utah Chapter of Make a Wish and they were able to get things started for Kayden to make his wish. On Jan 8, Kayden has his official WISH DAY! He wished to go to Disneyworld and to meet Buzz Lightyear.

They were able to go April 26-May 2. This past Friday, Make a Wish had a party for Kayden to raise his star to the ceiling because his wish was granted. It was a neat experience to go and be a part of.


West Jordan High did a fundraiser this year and the money went to Make a Wish. They raised over $15,000!!! The average wish is $5,000. This is a few of the kids from the student council. They are AMAZING!

My favorite picture! It was so touching. While he was raising his star, it was SILENT! They were playing "When you wish upon a star" had to hold back the tears. He has gone thru so much!!

This experience was amazing. I am so proud to be Kaydens aunt. He is such an amazing little boy. He is one of my heroes! I love you Kayden. Thank you for inviting me to your party!

He is 5!

Kayden is turning 5! I remember getting the call from Tammy saying she drove herself to the hospital and she was in labor. I just sit back and think that it has only been 5 years but then also I think wow, it has been 5 years. So many things have gone on in the 5 years of this little boys life. When he was 2 weeks old they diagnosed him with Hypoplastic kidneys (small kidneys). His kidneys stopped growing in ureto. He was in renal failure. I remember staying 1 night at PCMC with this little tiny 2 week old so my sister could spend some time with her husband and their 4 year old daughter (the nurses were a little upset because they wanted to hold the baby all night). Kayden was able to undergo a kidney transplant 1 month after his 2nd birthday. We will always be grateful for that donor!

I love having Kayden close by now. Everytime I talk to him on the phone is always asking me if he can come to my house. Last week he asked if I would come "hangout with him" at him house. He is so happy to be 5! (unless you tell him he is a big boy now and he can do things by himself because he is 5. Then he'll tell you "I'm ONLY 4!")

A few things I have learned about Kayden:
1)He LOVES green, if there is anything green, he HAS to have it
2)Loves his "pink milk"
3)Lately he is obsessed with "army guys"
4)Loves to be with his grandpa
5)He is so tender-hearted
6)You know if you have Kayden around, you will have Koy following him. And you KNOW that means T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!!

Happy Birthday lil man! I can't believe you are 4. You have had to go through so much in your life and you are my hero. Kayden has always been my lil buddy. I know that if there was a choice, he would go to Grandpa first. He was the first grandson born. He was born with hypoplastic kidneys. He ended up getting a kidney transplant 1 month after his 2 year birthday. I love how he loves to ask for his pink milk. He is SLOWLY eating. He loves Optimus Prime Transformer, Ironman, Spiderman, Star Wars "YODO", and most of all his BYU FOOTBALL. He is such an easy going kid. He will sit down and play with his toys for hours. He has had to go through so much in his short life, I will never be able to comprehend how much he or Tammy goes through on a daily basis. I love you so much Kayden! I love when you will come and tell me (and everyone else) that you love me the mostest. I love that you tell Grandpa that he is your bestest buddy. I know that really makes Grandpa happy. You are such a good brother to Koy and Lexi. I hope you have fun at Kidney Clinic today. The drs and nurses there are pretty much part of the family now. If it wasn't for them, you probably wouldn't be who you are today! I hope you have a good birthday! I love you Kayden!! Time to grow up?

I was talking to Kayden and Koy yesterday about what they want for their birthdays (Koy's is the 10th and Kayden is the 13th). Koy just mumbles so I was trying to get him to say Spiderman. Then Kayden said "UM, Star Wars, Spiderman, and Optimus Prime" I said but what if you can only get 1 thing from Aunt Nicky, what would want? He sat there on the couch and said "well, I want my aunt nicky!" I said ok, I can do that!" then I asked the boys how old they were going to be. I'm trying to get Koy to say 2, but then he said 3,4,5. So at least he is starting to count! :) Then Kayden said 4 so he is right! I told Kayden, did you know that I am having a birthday! Guess how old I will be! I will be 26! Lexi said, so right now you are 25. I was holding Kayden and he said So when it's your bithday you gotta go grow up! I was laughing so hard. There's an age limit on when you have to grow up? I can't believe my little buddies are going to be 2 and 4.

Birthday month

Happy birthday to me! It's my birthday month!!!! YAY!! I have all month to celebrate.. I love October because it is full of birthdays.. Let's see if this year I am able to go to haunted houses and enjoy all the Halloween fun!! Kayden and Koy have birthdays this month too.. YAY FOR US!!!!
